Three Things Thursday- Lent Edition

Morning, everyone!  Yesterday was the start of the Lent, and in true triathlete fashion, I have mixed in a little triathlon with my normal lenten penance. Here is what I plan to focus on during the 6 weeks before Easter.

  1. Going to church more.  I try to make it to Mass as much as possible; however, I always use the excuse that I have a workout early in the morning to justify skipping Mass.  Over the next 6 weeks, I am going to try to change that.  I know when my workouts are well in advance, so I should be able to find one hour of my weekend to go to Mass.
  2. No more skipping workouts. Like I said above, I have to mix in a little triathlon with everything. Not to mention that giving up my excuses to skip workouts will be quite the challenge. I am going to try to complete every workout for 6 weeks. Wish me luck! :)
  3. No more cursing.  I do not have a mouth like a sailor; however, I can let it fly every now and again.  I will find better ways to express my thoughts and feelings over the next 6 weeks.

Oh and on a completely unrelated note- Happy Valentine's Day!  Sending lots of hugs and warm and loving thoughts to everyone. <3 <3

This is how the BF shows me he loves me- putting stickers on my tush  while I walk around a store for 30 minutes not not knowing.   :)

Semi-Wordless Weekend Recap: Birthday Edition

This weekend wasn't all fun and games. :)  I decided to hit the pool at Hains Point on Friday after work.
After the crazy storm on Friday night, my 10 mile run on Saturday was more like a 10 mile steeplechase. Yay for climbing over trees and splashing through puddles!
Huck's brother and sister-in-law were visiting this weekend, so we took them to dinner at Proof. NOM NOM NOM
For Huck's b-day surprise, we went to Kings Dominion.  We had so much fun!

Huck even talked me into riding the Intimidator 305. Sooooo fun, but really scary!!!
Yesterday was Huck's actual b-day, so of course I wanted to take him to dinner.  We had a delicious meal at Co Co Sala.

Huck's fantastic dessert.
I hope everyone had a fantastic weekend!!

Three Things Thursday: Running & Surprises

  • Working late yesterday prevented me from getting my run in last night.  Instead of getting upset about it I used yesterday as a rest day and did my run this morning and will swim on Friday night.  Who wouldn't want to spend their Friday evening at the HP pool. :) I think I might be getting the hang of this balance thing.  I just have to be a little more creative when it comes to planning.
  • I think I have finally settled on a marathon training plan- well kind of.  After looking at a bunch of plans, I wasn't able to find one that gave me exactly what I need. My solution- combined them.  I think this blended plan will give me everything I need to be prepared to run a great race.  What is great you ask?  Well I am not really sure what that means right now. A PR would be nice. A BQ would AWESOME.  What I am really focusing on is enjoying my training and staying healthy. If I PR and/or BQ, that would be fantastic, but I am not putting that kind of pressure on myself.
  • Huck's birthday is coming up, and I having been planning his birthday surprise for almost a month. I have no idea how I have managed to keep it from him, but I am pretty sure he is clueless. Well he knows that we have plans on Sunday, but other than that he has no idea.  WOOP WOOP!
Dear Sunday, Please get here as soon as possible! Thanks, Whitney :)

I hope everyone is having a great Thursday!
